A Comparative Study of Natural Gas and Biogas Combustion in A Swirling Flow Gas Turbine Combustor

In this study, non-premixed combustion of a traditional fuel-natural gas, and an alternative fuel-biogas, is simulated in swirling flow industrial gas turbine combustor geometry which includes the liner outside casing order to replicate real combustor. The 3D simulations are validated results for both gases analyzed compare evaluate viability biogas as fuel use combustors. performance evaluated based on multiple optimization parameters, namely, efficiency, pattern factor, pollutant emissions (CO NO). effects two design parameters: swirl number injector diameter parameters examined. have been identify best case each parameter suitable trade-off proposed. Additionally, comparison performances revealed that despite possessing much lower methane hence heating value (LHV), combination specific composition comparable natural along with NO emission, although at expense higher CO emission. Therefore, can potentially be utilized combustors, methods reducing emission devised.
